Last month as Father’s day was approaching my men’s group was discussing the importance of being around as a father. Not just being around physically but also truly “being there” when you are there. This reminded me of a precious moment that occurred nearly 13 years ago – a moment I will never forget. Read the rest of this entry »

K-LOVE (www.klove.com), a syndicated radio station, has issued a 30-day challenge to listen to nothing but Christian music for 30 days. I have accepted their challenge and have been listening to KLOVE at work as much as possible. They are playing a wonderful new song by Jason Gray titled Read the rest of this entry »
Last week I wrote about my favorite animated Christmas show “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” (https://d2dministries.com/2011/12/08/how-the-grinch-stole-christmas/) and how the Grinch had a changed heart after he understood the true meaning of Christmas.
Well Christmas is 7 days away and you still have a few opportunities to watch another of my favorite Christmas movies “Home Alone.” “Home Alone” is just a fun movie to watch as Kevin uses Looney Tunes–type traps and tricks to fend off the bad guys.
The bad guys understood Kevin’s weaknesses and then devised… Read the rest of this entry »
I am a huge sports fan – I mainly still follow the teams I have followed since the early 1970’s including the New York Jets. More recently I have become a Tim Tebow fan. As you football fans know, Tebow just “Tebowed” the Jets on Thursday night and I have to admit something: I found myself actually rooting for Tebow as he led his team on an improbable 95 yard drive to win the game. I can’t explain rooting against the team I have been following for 40 years except to say Read the rest of this entry »
During the month of November I am looking at some famous idioms. Last week’s title was “Absence makes the heart grow fonder?” reminding all of us the importance of spending time with God through prayer. This week Read the rest of this entry »
“Why are there so many decisions for Christ yet so few disciples?”
It was 17 years ago today my life changed forever – I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. While the first 15 of these years certainly changed my life it really wasn’t until two years ago that I surrendered my life to Christ. What provoked the change? Read the rest of this entry »
Over the next few weeks I am going to look at some famous idioms and the first, “absence makes the heart grow fonder” is a strange concept to me. I had no idea who came up with this saying or where it came from but I started to wonder if I am the only one who disagrees with it.
So I did a little research and it turns out most psychologists actually do agree with it. But the best item I came across during my research was “absence makes the heart… Read the rest of this entry »
The next few weeks will be a series based on one of my favorite movies – Jerry Maguire (note: when I mentioned this to a friend recently he was surprised because of the R rating and some of the content – so I have to admit that I have only seen the TV version). I just the love the story lines (good vs. Read the rest of this entry »
What a wonderful world we do live in! When we were living in Switzerland I rode the train to work every day and I would sit in the same seat everyday so I could have a perfect view of sun rising up over the Alps – very much like the photo on the right. After 3 years this view never grew old or become routine – it amazed me every single day. This is a wonderful, beautiful world that God created and we get to enjoy!
And while we are to enjoy the beauty that God created Read the rest of this entry »
Recently I was on a mission trip to Guatemala with Seek ‘n Serve Ministries. A standard part of the mission trip and one of the highlights for me was attending a local church on Sunday morning. The pastor said something that morning I cannot get out of my head. At first Read the rest of this entry »
