K-LOVE (www.klove.com), a syndicated radio station, has issued a 30-day challenge to listen to nothing but Christian music for 30 days. I have accepted their challenge and have been listening to KLOVE at work as much as possible.  They are playing a wonderful new song by Jason Gray titled “Remind Me Who I Am”. I love the music and especially love the lyrics:

“When I lose my way, and I forget my name, remind me who I am. In the mirror all I see, Is who I don’t wanna be, remind me who I am. In the loneliest places, when I can’t remember what grace is. Tell me once again who I am to you. Who I am to you. Tell me lest I forget who I am to you. That I belong to you. To you.

“When my heart is like a stone, and I’m running far from home, remind me who I am. When I can’t receive your love, Afraid I’ll never be enough, Remind me who I am. If I’m your beloved, Can you help me believe it.”

There are two great points in these lyrics about who we are:

1.       We are loved by God: No matter what we have done, no matter what has been done to us God loves us. Paul tells us in Ephesians 2:10 “We are God’s masterpiece…” Masterpiece defined as “the most outstanding work of a creative artist or craftsman.” God created each of us; we all are His masterpiece.

2.       We belong to God: In the second verse Jason repeats the words “to you” 5 times. It’s not who are we to the world; it is who we are to God. Who are we to Him?  We are His Children and we are part of His family adopted as His.  Don’t allow the world to tell you otherwise; don’t allow Satan to deceive you – this is one of Satan’s greatest tricks – deceiving us into thinking we don’t belong, we are not worthy.

This song also tells us that we all need to be reminded sometimes of who we are.  I love the line “If I’m your beloved, can you help me believe it.” If you listen to Jason sing he is pleading with God “help me remember that you love me, that I belong”

Do you need to be reminded today of who you are? Go to Him and ask Him to remind you. Never forget who you are.

Revelations 3:5 “All who are victorious will be clothed in white. I will never erase their names from the Book of Life, but I will announce before my Father and his angels that they are mine.”
